Gifted Assessment
Purpose:
The typical purpose of a gifted assessment is to determine whether or not a child meets the criteria for identification as specified by your child’s school board.
For individuals aged 6 to 16, we assess intelligence through use of the Weschler Intelligence Scale for Children- 5th Edition.
For individuals aged 16 and older, we assess intelligence through the use of the Weschler Adult Intelligence Scale-Fourth Edition.
If a concern regarding learning is identified a complete psycho-educational assessment may be recommended.
A typical gifted assessment includes:
- Report card review
- Clinical interview with the child and the parents, and
- Evaluation of the child’s intelligence through the use of a standardized measure of IQ.
